  Interviews

01 :: first off, who does what in the band and how long have you been doing it...
Joe Vigil :: drums/vocals, too long 14yrs,
Kate Vigil :: bass/vocals, since yesterday
B. Nothing :: guitar/vocals, 15yrs, practice doesn't make perfect.

02 :: i know you (joe) played in Jeno. Tell us about them briefly and where they were based out of, etc.
JV :: Jeno was a crossover grind thrash metal band that consisted of me and my friends, Keith Sanchez and Tim Vigil. We were based out of Pueblo CO, and then Denver. We released "Afterbirth" LP, "Drained" 7", and a demo called "Like Leno". We toured the U.S. once and the south west/west coast once. good times.

03 :: why did you and kate move out east? how do you compare the scene out west with the one on the east, more specifically out in Philly? Do you enjoy it more? It seems like there are more "scene police" in Philly!
KV :: We moved to Philly becuse I had lived in Philly for 3 years prior to moving to Denver. I was in a band called ZED and we had such a great time within a very supportive scene here in Philly that it was a good choice to come back to such an enthusiastic scene. The scene in Philly has a much more diverse background and is more flexible than what i experienced in Denver. You can meet lot more people here at any given show than you could in Denver. that is not to say that the entire west coast is like Denver. I've had great times there meeting amazing people there as well. I love Philly, though. I don't know what "scene police" are, but i imagine that becuse the scene is so multi-faceted here it may seem as though there are more folks trying to push their views on how the scene should be-but thats everywhere!
JV :: I moved to get the fuck out of Denver. I love the southwest and the bands that come out of there,but the southwest is too spread out, too isolated. Its far away from everything. As far as Philly, I love it. People here make a united scene that helps everyone out, it's a punk-metal community without all the stupid drama. Where as Denver is just one big click that is very seperated, with no unity, and very shallow. Not for me.
BN :: Cuz their was once a man in hell who never left, becuse he knew the names of all the streets.

04 :: so i gotta ask...why name the band after moe (mough?) from the simpsons? although i gotta admit, he IS pretty bad ass because he straight don't give a fuck!
JV :: Yup, Moe is the most fucked up. He is a grumpy, crotchety asshole, like us."SYZSLAK" sounds different, unique, a name that no one knows what to expect muiscally. Full of surprises, never knowing what we will do next.
KV :: Because no one knows how to fucking spell it, ever!
BN :: The combo of SYZYGY, and Slack

05 :: who runs worldeater? for a while i thought it was you guys' label. they seem to be putting out a lotta weird shit. can you tell us a little about them?
JV :: Our friends Kevin and Gary run World Eater Records. Its a DIY non-profit label that helps out bands any way they can. They have their own recording studio and put out records when they have the money.They are very anti-coorporate. They have a very diverse ear for music. Thats what makes them so great, they help out all that help them in return. Check them out at WWW.WORLDEATERRECORDS.COM.

06 :: so who is the spanish speaker in the band (based on the title adoradores de quimicos)? how do you see latino involvement in the scene, especially after coming from high latino area in the SW/west. do you see a lot of diversity out on the east?
KV :: I do speak a bit of spanish (not so great always) and i named the song "Adoradores De Qumicos" becuse it gives it more power. There is involvement of all walks of life in the scene here. I really don't know if there is much blatant latino involvement in the Philly scene, but my old friend Brujo does some activism that is intended to bring awareness of the Aztec culture and performs ritual dances in front of city hall. He is an amazing person. This is a diverse scene in values and in spirit, not so much in ethnicity.
JV :: There aren't very many latinos in the Philly punk scene as there is in the southwest, at least what i've seen. I wish there were more chicanos out here so i can feel at home, but there isn't. Philly's scene is very diverse with all walks of life.
BN :: I'm from Texas, so I miss the food and culture, but not the guns. Philly is full of diversity.

07 :: would consider yoursleves a political band at all? do you think it's important to be political at all in the hc/punk scene?
BN :: We are all political in all that we do on earth. Either your political or numb. For fucks sake their is a war going on and George Bush is in office.
KV :: We are both political and spiritual. Often times this means evaluating our political principles which is always important. I think that the punk scene puts a little TOO much emphasis on AGREEING on politics. What do you care what I think? If you don't want to harm others, then what does it matter? I think we all want to do the right thing. JV. At times we could be a bit political as a band. Politics to me is all perception, it's what you choose to see to form a belief, and not following what everyone thinks they believe. I think it is very important to speak ones voice, no matter what.

08 :: i'm hungry.
BN :: Me too, i've eaten alot of shit, and the future looks like more shit.
JV :: Give me some tamales with green chili homie.
KV :: I've got it bad for some mexican right now, bro!

09 :: any plans on releasing a full length soon? what about playing some shows down in MD...?
JV :: Our first full-length should be out early 2005. And now that we know you, We'll be playing MD soon.
KV :: Oh, we'll be in MD soon, very soon!

10 :: shout outs. threats, warnings, thank yous, etc..
